Guns and Vampires Transcend Cultural Boundaries in the ‘Yakuza Apocalypse’ Trailer

Now, unlike the last movie out of Japan we covered, this one’s trailer does not contain English subtitles. But – before you go clicking away – give the trailer for Yakuza Apocalypse a shot. The visuals pretty much speak for themselves: there’s a yakuza, who becomes a vampire, and starts biting people, and a nurse with a gun, and…wait, is that Yayan Ruhian from the Raid movies? Then there’s a guy in frog costume…deflecting bullets…which are being fired from what looks like the corpse of Optimus Prime.

Seems pretty straight forward.

Besides, let’s face it, you don’t really go to the works of Takashi Miike (aka, the guy who makes like five movies per year) for the dialogue. You go because you know something really weird or really shocking is bound to happen.

Yakuza Apocalypse is coming to theaters in Japan June 2o, 2015. How ’bout we all bow our heads and pray for a swift American release.
