Disney, with help from Gonzo and Pepe, announced their latest Muppets project entitled Muppets Haunted Mansion, streaming exclusively on Disney+.
The special will follow Gonzo on Halloween night being challenged to spend one very daring night in the most grim grinning place on Earth …The Haunted Mansion.
Disney is connecting this with their attraction The Haunted Mansion, which was turned into an Eddie Murphy comedy in 2003, with the Muppets. The original 2003 film was met with less than stellar reviews all around. The Haunted Mansion has been a well known property from Disney, but little has been done with it over the course of the last decade. However, combining the fun charm of the Jim Henson creation with the unique attraction should be an engaging time.
The Muppets have been to Manhattan, space, and the Haunted Mansion seems like the next logical conclusion. Disney has been doing a plethora of things with the Muppets as of late including a fun TV series on Disney+. Similar to the TV series this one off adventure will have lots of cameos from characters from the Muppets world as well as celebrity cameos(perhaps Eddie Murphy will return to the Haunted Mansion in someway).
There is not yet an official release date, but Muppets Haunted Mansion will be streaming on Disney+ around Halloween time in Fall of 2021.
