‘Gone Girl’ Actress Lisa Banes In Critical Condition Following Hit-and-Run Accident in NYC

Lisa Banes, a 65-year-old actress known for her roles in films like Gone Girl and A Cure for Wellness, was put in critical condition after being hit by a motorized scooter in New York City, according to her manager. The actress was visiting Manhattan for the first time since the pandemic and was on her way to meet her wife for a dinner party near Lincoln Center when she was hit.

Banes’ wife, Kathryn Kranhold, said that Banes was hospitalized with a traumatic brain injury. Police noted that the actress had the right of way, and the scooter driver is still currently unidentified. Banes was in Manhattan to perform a two-woman show at the Manhattan Theater Club, The Niceties.

Banes has appeared all around Hollywood, starting her career in the year 1984 with a performance in the film The Hotel New Hampshire. More recently she played Rosamund Pike‘s character’s mother in Gone Girl, and appeared as Tom Cruise‘s older love interest in the 1988 film Cocktail. She also appeared in Gore Verbinski’s 2016 horror film, A Cure For Wellness, and starred in the 1988 western, Young Guns. The actress has also appeared in various TV shows, including the recent Amazon Prime series Them.
