‘Ghostbusters’ Producer Says New Franchise Will Be “Endless”

After a long, long period of heated debate, the theatrical release of Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters is almost here. The first reviews have been trickling out from critics, and while they aren’t all in love with it, there are many positive opinions about the controversial reboot. And no matter how fans end up feeling about the film, there’s going to be plenty like it.

During the premiere of Ghostbusters, producer Amy Pascal spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about where things are headed. Even though it still remains to be seen how financially successful the reboot will be, she was happy to report that this new franchise will be “endless.” That statement will probably make most diehard fans that much more furious about the whole situation. However, considering that the reboot is attempting to truly be something new from the originals, there’s many ways that this franchise could work for a modern audience.

Since it’s in a science-fiction world, there are so many ways that the franchise could travel down. Like the DC Cinematic Universe, the potential for spinoffs is also boundless in scope. No matter what, Feig’s reboot sports talented female leads, a wondrous visual style and undeniable charm. We may not all be on-board with the film right now, but let’s try to be optimistic. It is Ghostbusters, after all.
