Gal Gadot Starring in Disney’s Live-Action Remake of ‘Snow White’ as Evil Queen

It looks like Gal Gadot is going to have to compete against Rachel Zegler to be the fairest of them all. According to Deadline, Gadot is at the end of negotiations to play the Evil Queen in the upcoming live-action rendition of Disney’s Snow White.

Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man) will direct, and Marc Platt will produce the film, which will star Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) as the heroine Snow White.

Based on the Brothers Grimm fable, the first Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs animation was aired in 1938. It was Disney’s first animated picture and was a massive success for the studio.

Sources say that the live-action will expand on the original story and music. The Oscar-and-Tony-winning pair behind La La Land and The Greatest Showman, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, are creating new songs for the film.

Variety asked Gadot what attracted her to the role of Evil Queen at the premiere of her new action Netflix film Red Notice.

“There is so much that I cannot share with you that will actually answer this question,” Gadot said, “But the take on this story is so different and delightful and full of joy… I’m very, very excited. I wish I could share more.”

Production is set to begin in 2022.
