Before George Miller returns to the desert with the Mad Max franchise, the director will be tinkering with a new original feature film called Three Thousand Years Longing, according to Comicbook.com.
Despite being pushed back by the amid COVID-19 outbreak, the film was recently discussed by Miller. Three Thousand Years Longing centers upon an isolated British woman who makes the decision to venture to Istanbul for a vacation. Over the course of her travels, the woman stumbles upon a magic lamp that contains a genie name Djinn, who provides her with the opportunity to alter her life for the better granting three wishes. George Miller will be writing and directing the film respectively.
The cast for Three Thousand Years Longing currently consists of Idris Elba as the genie and Tilda Swinton as the lonely British woman. However, since Elba sadly tested positive for COVID-19 this week, it’s unknown whether this will affect anything. Miller previously announced that he would return to work on another Mad Max film, which according to reports will be a prequel centering on the character of Imperator Furiosa.
Currently, it’s uncertain when Three Thousand Years of Longing will enter production due to the ongoing global production.
