Upcoming film Friendship’s distribution rights have been picked up by A24.The film comes to audiences from director Andrew DeYoung.
Friendship sees a man who keeps up a simple and ordinary life. However, when he meets a weatherman, the two strike up an unlikely friendship, but it becomes problematic and threatens the well-being of both of those involved.
Paul Rudd and Tim Robinson star opposite each other in the leading roles. Friendship also marks the film debut of Robinson. The rest of the cast is filled out by Kate Mara, Jack Dylan Grazer, Meredith Garretson, and Josh Segarra, among others.
On top of directing, Andrew DeYoung also took up writing for the project, as well as serving as an executive producer. DeYoung has directed several television episodes, including some from Our Flag Means Death, but as Variety notes, this is his first time directing a feature film.
Variety also reported that A24 picked up the film following its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival.
A24 has had a productive 2024 thus far, releasing Love Lies Bleeding, Civil War, and Maxxxine, all to varying degrees of success.
Most recently, they released The Front Room to audiences, from Max and Sam Eggers, the brothers of Robert Eggers. Later this year, as well, they’ll release Babygirl starring Nicole Kidman, which has already scooped up praise when making the rounds at film festivals.
