Fox Searchlight Announces December 4 U.S. Release Date for ‘Youth’

Fox Searchlight has announced a December 4th U.S. release date for writer-director Paolo Sorrentino’s Youth. The film was a favorite at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where it was nominated for the prestigious Palme d’Or.

Oscar-winner Michael Caine (Interstellar) and Harvey Keitel (The Grand Budapest Hotel) star as lifelong best friends vacationing together in the Swiss Alps, where they ponder the twists and turns that their lives have taken. Caine’s Fred is an acclaimed conductor and composer mulling retirement, while Keitel’s Mick is director-screenwriter who is penning the script for what he thinks might be his last important project. The pair ruminates on the past, present, and where they might be going in the future. Rachel Weisz (The Lobster), Paul Dano (the upcoming Beach Boys biopic Love and Mercy) and Jane Fonda (Netflix’s Grace and Frankie) round out the cast.

Sorrentino’s The Great Beauty was the winner of the 2014 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
