Fox Buys Spec Script About an Uber Driver

Strap on your Millennial seat belt, Uber is making its way to the silver screen. Fox Studios has acquired the action-comedy spec script Struber, written by Tripper Clancy. The story takes place over one harrowing night in the life of an Uber driver named Stu. Tripper and his manager Jake Wagner came up with the idea, and Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (team behind Horrible Bosses) worked with him to develop the script. Goldstein and Daley will produce under their GoldDay banner and Wagner will be executive producer.

UTA-repped Goldstein and Daley are currently writing Spider-Man: Homecoming for Sony. They also wrote and directed Vacation (2015), as well as Horrible Bosses for New Line, and are also producing All Day & Night for Relativity. Clancy has made Hacker Camp at Hasbro, Stranded at Sony, and The Ambassadors at Fox. Pairing Clancy with an established comedy team will likely do wonders for the burgeoning screenwriter’s film, not to mention the Uber ad campaign that is sure to take Hollywood by storm leading up to the film’s release.
