‘Five Nights At Freddy’s’ Tops The Box Office Once Again With $17.8 Million Total

Despite many films getting wide releases this weekend, it’s still looking to be a quiet few days at the theater. Five Nights At Freddy’s, despite a steep drop in box office sales, is still keeping the top spot moving into the weekend.

While it garnered about $80 million domestically in its first weekend, it’s looking to put up about $17.8 million in the second weekend of its run. Despite being a hefty 78% drop, it’s still impressive that it didn’t drop any lower, considering the film’s same-day release on Peacock.

As far as competition for Freddy and his group goes, it won’t be much of a fight at all. Sofia Coppola’s newest feature, Priscilla, moved into 1,344 screens this weekend after screening on just four screens last weekend. Bleecker Street’s new film What Happens Later hits 1,492 locations, and Daisy Ridley-led The Marsh King’s Daughter hits 1,055 locations. As Variety reports, the only one looking to gain a spot in the top 5 is Priscilla.

As the title suggests, Priscilla follows the memoirs of Priscilla Presley, who was married to the King of Rock And Roll, Elvis. The film was a massive success at the Venice Film Festival, earning main lead Cailee Spaeny the best actress prize at the fest.

Second place this weekend, once again, is going to Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. On Friday, the film took in $3.6 million, a 23% drop from last weekend. At the rate it’s moving, it’s looking to end up as the 12th highest-grossing North American feature of this year, looking to claim the spot by this Monday.

Killers Of The Flower Moon is looking to take home $6.4 million this weekend, with the film earning $46 million in the States thus far. It may be a modest gross, but it’s nowhere near matching its $200 million budget.

The Exorcist: Believer is also ending up in the top 5, with a weekend total of $2 million, leading it to a $63 million domestic total. The first of a new trilogy, Blumhouse reportedly bought the rights to The Exorcist alone for $400 million.
