The first official footage for the highly anticipated Spider-Man spinoff Venom has hit the web and promises for an exhilarating ride come this fall.
Tom Hardy stars as Eddie Brock, a man infected by an alien symbiote to eventually become the renowned antihero Venom. Although we have some official footage, the plot for the film is still unknown.
Based on the teaser, we do see that Venom will be facing a large existential and dark crisis involving a romantic entanglement with Anne Weying (Michelle Williams), and possibly more sinister relationship with Dr. Carlton Drake (Riz Ahmed), who many are still expecting to become the villain Carnage. The biggest takeaway from the teaser, though, is Brock’s drastic and life-changing eventual transformation.
An appearance by Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man is unconfirmed, though rumored, since much of the Venom lore comes directly from his encounters with Spider-Man in the comics. Others known to be appearing in the film are Jenny Slate and Woody Harrelson.
The film, directed by Zombieland‘s Ruben Fleischer, hits theaters on October 5. See the teaser below.
