First Look At ‘The Flash’: Teaser Reveals Multiple Ezra Millers and Michael Keaton’s Batman

Variety reports that a few days ago during Saturday’s DC Fandome virtual fan event, actor Ezra Miller debuted the first look at The Flash. This will be director Andy Muschietti’s (It) feature adaptation of DC’s Scarlet Speedster. Christina Hodson (Birds of Prey) penned the script. The film is not to be confused with the ongoing CW series The Flash starring Grant Gustin, which was also featured during DC Fandom.

Muschietti’s The Flash seeks to unlock the DC multiverse as Miller’s Barry Allen has the ability to move fast enough to transcend the boundaries of (fictional) time and space. Barry’s timeline-hopping abilities allow him to shift from his cinematic universe into an alternative one. In other words, Ben Affleck’s Batman, who first appeared with Miller in 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, no longer exists in this timeline. Instead, Miller runs into Michael Keaton’s Batman, who is reprising the role he originated in 1989’s Batman and 1992’s Batman Returns.

To make things more complicated, Kiersey Clemons’ role as Barry’s love interest Iris West has been reinstated. She originated the character for 2017’s Justice League before the role got cut after director Zack Snyder left the film but returned again after he released his four-hour cut of Justice League on HBO Max in March.

Neither of these characters appears in the teaser, but we see that Barry Allen meets a different version of himself, along with Supergirl, played by Sasha Calle. In the clip, Keaton’s Bruce Wayne asks Barry why he would try so hard to save his own timeline when he can move through all of them. Bruce’s speech plays under the scenes of Barry returning to his home, where his mother (Maribel Verdú) is still alive. In his original universe, his mother was killed and his father was wrongfully convicted of the crime.

The Flash is scheduled for release on November 4, 2022. Make sure to check out the teaser below!
