On Thursday, The Hollywood Reporter broke news that production on the upcoming Mission: Impossible 7 has been halted due to a positive coronavirus test. The latest film in the Mission: Impossible franchise was filming in the UK, when the positive test was discovered. A spokesperson from Paramount has confirmed that the production will be delayed until June 14.
“We have temporarily halted production on ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ until June 14th, due to positive coronavirus test results during routine testing,” read Paramount’s official statement “We are following all safety protocols and will continue to monitor the situation.”
Mission: Impossible 7 has had to jump through many hoops to get into production after it’s initial delay of filming in February 2020 due to the shutdown, just days from when filming was scheduled to begin. The film was back to shooting in the fall of 2020, but was again delayed after a positive test was found in October. Also, in December, audio leaked of Tom Cruise yelling at two crew members for not following COVID protocols by standing too close to each other at a computer screen.
The film is directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who helmed the last two films in the franchise. In addition to Cruise, the film will star Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, and Vanessa Kirby.
