Felicity Jones in Talks for ‘Inferno’

Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything) is in talks to join Tom Hanks for Inferno, according to Deadline. This will be the third film adaptation of author Dan Brown’s series from director Ron Howard. The series follows the adventures of symbologist Henry Langdon (Hanks) as he uncovers the crimes of secret societies.

The new film will be based on the book of the same name and follows Langdon as he wakes up with amnesia in an Italian hospital. He recruits a doctor to help him recover his memories and prevent a global plague connected to Dante’s Inferno. Jones is up for the role of the doctor. While the previous film in the series, Angels & Demons, was a prequel to The DaVinci Code, the events in this film take place after the first entry. Inferno is the fourth book in the Langdon series. The adaptation of the series’ third book, The Lost Symbol, was put on hold after Sony announced that Inferno was in preproduction.

This would be Jones’ largest role in a blockbuster. She previously played Felicia, who will later become Black Cat, in The Amazing Spiderman 2. Before that she was best known for playing opposite Anton Yelchin in the indie romantic drama Like Crazy. She is currently getting awards buzz for her performance in The Theory of Everything and will star in the upcoming fantasy adaptation A Monster Calls. No release date has been announced for Inferno.
