‘Fear Street: Prom Queen’ To Be Set In The 1980s, According To Netflix

The next Fear Street film has been announced. Fans of the 2021 Netflix horror series have been eagerly awaiting a new installment for some time. As reported by Slashfilm, Netflix has entered production on a new installment in the franchise, Fear Street: Prom Queen, which is expected to be set in the 1980s.

The original slate of Fear Street films was a unique release for Netflix. An entire trilogy of films, titled Fear Street Part One: 1994, Fear Street Part Two: 1978, and Fear Street Part Three: 1666 were released over three consecutive weeks in July 2021. Each film, while standalone, was set in the fictional town of Shadyside. Each film was inspired by R.L. Stine’s original Fear Street novels.

The new film seems to be an adaptation of Stine’s novel The Prom Queen and appears to be a singular release, unlike its predecessors. The cast includes India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Chris Klein, Lili Taylor, and Katherine Waterston. The film will be written by Matt Palmer and Donald McLeary, with Palmer also directing the film.

The official synopsis for Fear Street: Prom Queen reads “Prom season at Shadyside High is underway and the school’s wolfpack of It Girls is busy with its usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown. But when a gutsy outsider is unexpectedly nominated to the court, and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the class of ’88 is suddenly in for one hell of a prom night.”
