Sean McNamara’s ‘Reagan’ Starring Dennis Quaid On Path To Theatrical Release

According to Deadline, ShowBiz Direct has picked up director Sean McNamara’s Reagan starring Dennis Quaid for distribution. The film will be the first full-length feature on President Reagan. The biopic follows Reagan’s life from his upbringing in Dixon, IL to his star days in Hollywood and then to his time as the U.S.’s 40th President in the White House with the Cold War as the film’s backdrop.

Alongside Quaid, the film also stars Jon Voight as a former spy named Petrovich, Penelope Ann Miller as First Lady Nancy Reagan, Mena Suvari as the President’s first wife Jane Wyman, Lesley-Anne Down as Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, David Henrie as Reagan in his teen years, and Kevin Dillon as Warner Bros. President Jack Warner.

While the film was originally set to have been released back in 2023, due to the pandemic and actors’ strike, there were multiple delays in the film’s path towards a theatrical release.

Talking to Deadline, Quaid said of his role: “Portraying Ronald Reagan was an enormous challenge. This is an important movie, one of my most interesting roles and I am really excited to work with the ShowBix team to get this film opened in theatres this Summer.”
