Harry Potter fans around the world rejoice. J.K. Rowling, the first billionaire author, has confirmed that there will be four more movies to be added to the Harry Potter canon. Rowling, wrote the original book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them in 2001 also penned the screen play to the upcoming Harry Potter spin-off movie of the same name, coming to theaters November 18th.
Rowling said, “We always knew that it was going to be more than one movie — we knew that from the start — so we set a trilogy as a sort of placeholder, because we knew there would be more than one movie…we’re pretty sure it’s going to be five movies.”
The second film, also set to star Eddie Redmayne, Oscar winner for The Theory of Everything (2014), and directed again by David Yates (responsible for Fantastic Beasts and the majority of the latter Potter films) is already said to be in production. Yates has said the film will take place in another major world city but not New York like Fantastic Beasts is. The film is set in the 1920s and centers around Newt Scammander wizard, played by Redmayne, who goes to New York City with a leather briefcase filled with mysterious creatures that you see more of on their Facebook fanpage.
You can catch the film at a theater near you starting November 18th and tickets are already on sale. So get your wands ready and be prepared to be blown away.
