As several cast members of the original Practical Magic, including Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Dianne Wiest, and Stockard Channing, continue to be announced as returning for the upcoming Practical Magic 2, Evan Rachel Wood has revealed that she won’t return. Following the announcement of Wiest and Channing’s return, Wood went to Instagram Reels to clarify things for any fans who might be wondering if she’ll be returning.
“I am getting asked about this a lot, so I’ll just clear it up now; I was not asked to come back and be in the Practical Magic sequel,” wrote Wood in an Instagram Reel. “I offered my services, even if it was one scene or one line. I was told they are recasting. I am sorry to disappoint the fans. It was not in my control or my choice. I would have happily rejoined my sisters.”
Practical Magic 2 will be a follow-up to the original 1998 film. Bullock, Kidman, Wiest, and Channing have all already been announced to be returning. The film is set to feature an all-star cast of new additions, including Joey King, Lee Pace, Maisie Williams, Xolo Maridueña, and Solly McLeod. Susanne Bier is directing the film, and the script will be co-written by the film’s original screenwriter, Akiva Goldsman, alongside Georgia Pritchett.
Practical Magic 2 is currently in production and will be released in theaters on September 18th, 2026.
