Estelle Harris from the iconic NBC sitcom Seinfeld, passed away Saturday evening of natural causes in Palm Desert, California. Harris was well known as George Costanza’s mother from Estelle Costanza on Seinfeld. Harris was born in New York City on April 22, 1928, she starred in 27 episodes of Seinfeld between 1992 and 1998.
She raised her three children while working on stage and on screen. Estelle found success as a voice actress and worked on many films and TV shows such as Futurama, The Looney Tunes Show, Kim Possible, Hercules, The Wild Thornberrys, The Tick, Aladdin, and The Proud Family. She also played Muriel on the Disney Channel sitcom The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Harris is also well known for voicing Mr. Potato Head’s wife Mrs. Potato Head in the three installments of Toy Story.
Her son Glen Harris told Deadline of his mother’s final moments before passing away at 6:25 pm Saturday 2, 2022. “It is with the greatest remorse and sadness to announce that Estelle Harris has passed on this evening at 6:25 pm. Her kindness, passion, sensitivity, humor, empathy, and love were practically unrivaled and she will be terribly missed by all those who knew her.”
Jason Alexander from Seinfeld paid tribute to his sitcom mom on Twitter. “One of my favorite people has passed-my tv mamma, Estella Harris. The joy of playing with her and relishing her glorious laughter was a treat. I adore you, Estelle. Love your family. Serenity now and always.”
Estelle Harris is survived by her three children, three grandsons, and a great-grandson.
