Dwayne Johnson Provides First Look at ‘Jungle Cruise’ Set

Disney has had several successes and failures when it comes to adapting movie scripts based on its theme park’s most revered thrill rides. While the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been nearly milked to death and is still afloat, other adaptations like The Haunted Mansion have fallen short. Well, move over Captain Jack Sparrow; here comes the Jungle Cruise.

In a new video on YouTube (which you can watch below), Dwayne Johnson introduces fans to the massive set of Jungle Cruise. Before he allows the camera to span the expansive and impressive set, he explains that the 1955 conception of one Disney’s first attractions was not only envisioned by the late Walt Disney, but he was also the very first skipper for the riverboat ride. Additionally, it is this inspiring skipper that Johnson’s own character in the film is based on.

Filming currently in Hawaii, Johnson will be joined on set by Emily Blunt and Paul Giamatti; word has it that Jesse Plemons, and Edgar Ramirez will play the dastardly villains. The story follows a group of voyagers who set out into a jungle full of wild and dangerous creatures, not the least of which are humans. With The Shallows director Jaume Collet-Serra and Logan writer Michael Green steering the ship, Jungle Cruise will bring more Disney magic to the big screen.

Jungle Cruise navigates its way into theaters on October 11, 2019.

Amy O'Hare: I am freshly graduated with a masters in English and creative writing from Southern New Hampshire University. Aspiring to be an author who is trying to split my family life from my work life is tough but I hope to do so in equal parts for a happy medium. I am new to the business of writing and editing, but I am confident in my skills. My husband and I have been married for 15 years and we have two beautiful daughters. My youngest daughter battles epilepsy so I am her advocate in several ways. One way in particular is that I am currently writing a children's book that lets other children with disabilities know that they are not alone. Last fun fact is that our family is also proud fur parents to three rescue chi-mix dogs.
