‘Dune’ Actor Dave Bautista States He Would Take A New Comic Book Film Role If Approached

With the opening of the much anticipated Dune: Part Two approaching, the cast and crew have been making their rounds with press tours ahead of its release. Among them, Dave Bautista has taken the time to comment on where he wants his career to go when it comes to comic book fans.

Responsible for playing Beast Rabban Harkonnen in 2021’s Dune and its follow up Dune: Part Two, Bautista closed the book last year on his iconic role as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3. Under the direction of James Gunn, Bautista has been playing the character since the first installment’s release in 2014.

On top of appearing in both Dune films, helmed by Denis Villeneuve, Bautista also appeared in Blade Runner 2049, Villeneuve’s sequel to the 1982 sci-fi classic, Blade Runner.

With the completion of the Guardians trilogy, Bautista stated that he would not want to return as Drax in any capacity. He said that he got to send the character off in a satisfying way, going so far as to call it “perfect.”

Despite Drax ‘s story being complete, Variety reports that Bautista wouldn’t be opposed to returning to the world of comic book films. “I still have a relationship with Marvel. I’ve seen Kevin Feige again, Lou [D’Esposito] as recently as two weeks ago. And they know that I would be up for a role. I love the universe — the superhero universe, I love it. I’m a fan. So Marvel or DC, if they call, I would answer the phone. And if the role makes sense, I’d be all over it.”

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 can be streamed on Disney+, and the continuation of Dune hits screens March 1st.
