“Dragon Quest” is Getting a Big Screen Animated Release

E3 2019 was really exciting for Nintendo fans. Not only did Nintendo unveil several new exciting games, but revealed two new DLC fighters for Super Smash Brothers Ultimate as well. Nintendo fans were ecstatic to learn that Banjo-Kazooie and the heroes of the Dragon Quest franchise would be joining Smash.

While Dragon Quest is a fairly well-known video game franchise, it’s insanely popular in Japan. So it shouldn’t be a surprise to learn that a movie based on the Dragon Quest games is coming out this summer. Dragon Quest: Your Story is CG animated movie based on the 1992 video game Dragon Quest V. Trailers for the movie have already been posted online, but there are currently no English translations. The movie is being directed by Ryuichi Yagi, Makoto Hanafusa, and Takashi Yamazaki, the last of whom is also responsible for the screenplay. A list of voice actors appearing in the movie can be found on the movie’s official website.

Dragnon Quest: Your Story will release in Japan on August 2nd. It is currently unknown if the movie will receive a global release, but if Dragon Quest: Your Story does well in Japan- and, considering how beloved the franchise is in that country, it should-a worldwide release seems probable.
