Toei Animation announced that Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero release date has been delayed due to the company suspending its systems after being hacked, Comicbook reports. An unauthorized third party accessed the company’s network, which triggered the suspensions. A variety of projects were affected by the move, especially the big release date for the next Dragon Ball film. The original creator Akira Toriyama began development for the film in 2018 before releasing Dragon Ball Super: Broly in theaters. Toei Animation originally planned to release Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero on April 22 in Japan, while the North American release was set for this summer. For now, it’s unclear how long the delay will be.
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is the second installment to the Dragon Ball Super franchise. The film takes place three years after the Tournament of Power, and after Dragon Ball Super: Broly. The Red Ribbon Army returns with two new android superheroes. Gohan in the latest trailer is seen wearing the same outfit as Piccolo as he did back during the Cell Saga. Gohan’s three-year-old daughter Pan has recently been kidnapped by the Red Ribbon Army, and it’s up to Gohan and Piccolo to battle the new androids.
DBZ fans have been waiting in anticipation to see Gohan and Piccolo take the spotlight in their own movie. Goku and Vegeta are still in the film, and even Broly will be making an appearance. But Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero will be Gohan’s time to shine. Its been over three years since Gohan fought Dyspo in the Tournament of Power. Now DBZ fans can look forward to Gohan’s battle against the newest android Gamma.
