Norman Reedus is Coming Up for ‘Air’

Norman Reedus of AMC’s The Walking Dead recently signed on for another post-apocalyptic adventure; however, this time he will be seen on the big screen. Reedus will co-star with Djimon Hounsou in Air, a thriller in which earth’s atmosphere has been destroyed, rendering the last of the human race cryogenically frozen in an underground bunker until the time comes to re-establish society. Reedus and Hounsou are tasked with the duty of caring for the personnel, but they find their sanity tested as they struggle to maintain mankind’s hope in the last bit of livable space on earth.

While perhaps best know for his roles as Murphy McManus in The Boondock Saints and Daryl Dixon in AMC’s The Walking Dead, Reedus has been more widely cast in bit parts and minor roles for over a decade. The recent success of The Walking Dead has helped boost his popularity to propel his career to leading-man status.

Air will be produced by Robert Kirkman, creator of The Walking Dead comic book series which has been adapted into the popular television show.

Christian Cantamessa has co-written the scipt and will make his directorial debut with Air. Cantamessa served as co-writer and lead designer for the videogames Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and will attempt to translate that storytelling ability to the world of film.

Hounsou can be seen this summer in the Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy, while Reedus’ The Walking Dead is currently in its fourth season.
