Doug Liman In Talks to Direct Amazon Studios’ First Original Movie ‘The Wall’

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Doug Liman (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Edge of Tomorrow) is in negotiations to direct The Wall, Amazon Studios’ first original movie.

The story was penned by Dwain Worrell. His back story is that while teaching English in China a friend told Worrell that Amazon was accepting open script submissions for its original content division. The script made it to the 2014 Black List and was the fist spec script purchased by Amazon. The psychological thriller tells of a sniper and his spotter who are pinned down behind cover by a legendary sniper.

The Wall is expected to start shooting in late spring/early summer. No casting announcements have been made as of yet.

Next up for Liman will be Gambit, Fox’s movie about the X-Men mutant to be played by Channing Tatum (Hail, Caesar!). Although originally scheduled to be released this fall, Gambit’s shooting schedule has been delayed due to rewrites.
