According to Deadline, Disney CEO Bob Chapek says that currently there is no schedule for when Disney films, including Marvel films like The Eternals and Shang-Chi, might go back into production. The same pressures for going back into business also apply to the theme parks, which are currently waiting on government safety guidelines before deciding how to proceed. Disneyland Shanghai has already made a plan to re-open this month, but for the rest of the world parks things are not so clear.
Chapek did say that once film production can get up and running again, especially on their larger productions, new safety measures will be put into place to ensure the safety of the cast and crew as much as possible, including face masks on set.
Business will also depend on when theaters can reopen, as their success at the box office drive are a massive source of income for the company. The first release that Disney will have to worry about is Mulan, for which they are planning a worldwide theatrical launch. There is also the question of resorting to online and On Demand release as the future of theaters seems more and more uncertain, to which Chapek said “we very much believe in the cinema experience to launch blockbuster movies.”
