Directorial Nominees For The 76th Annual DGA Awards Announced

There are five directors nominated for the Directors Guild of America’s Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Theatrical Feature Film for 2023 award. The nominees at the 76th annual DGA Awards in this category are: Greta Gerwig for Barbie, Yorgos Lanthimos for Poor Things, Christopher Nolan for Oppenheimer, Alexander Payne for The Holdovers, and Martin Scorsese for Killers of the Flower Moon.

There are also five directors nominated for the DGA’s Michael Apted Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in First-Time Theatrical Feature Film. These nominees are: Cord Jefferson for American Fiction, Manuela Martelli for Chile ‘76, Noora Niasari for Shayda, A.V. Rockwell for A Thousand and One, and Celine Song for Past Lives.

Lesli Linka Glatter, president of the DGA, spoke of this year’s nominations: “In a year full of so many extraordinary films, DGA members have nominated an incredible group of gifted storytellers…Their films fused technical prowess with unique artistic visions that captured the depth of the human experience and left an indelible impact on audiences around the world.”

There will also be awards given for television series with some of the top contenders this year including HBO’s The Last of Us, Apple’s Lessons in Chemistry, HBO’s Succession, and Apple’s Ted Lasso.

Winners for the DGA Awards will be announced at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on Feb. 10.
