Just like all the theaters in the rest of the world, Japan’s movie theaters have been struggling during the pandemic. However despite the pandemic the movie Demon Slayer is smashing or ahem slaying several box office records.

The movie, which full title is Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train, was released in Japan last month on October 16th. Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train is based on a popular anime and manga series called Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. The series is about a brother and sister named Tanjiro and Nezuko respectively. When their family is attacked by demons, Nezuko becomes cursed and turns into a demon. The siblings then join forces with a demon slayer named Giyū Tomioka in order to avenge their family and cure Nezuko.
