Demian Bichir (TV’s The Bridge) has officially been added to a cast that already includes Channing Tatum (Magic Mike), Kurt Russell (Death Proof), Samuel L. Jackson (Django Unchained), Michael Madsen (Kill Bill), Bruce Dern (Nebraska), and Jennifer Jason Leigh (The Spectacular Now) for writer/director Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming western The Hateful Eight. Bichir will play Bob, a caretaker at a stagecoach stopover where bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh) are forced to take shelter in the winter with Union Army Veteran Major Marquis Warren (Jackson) and confederate renegade Chris Mannix (Walton Goggins).
Bichir is best known for his work on the FX series The Bridge and 2011’s A Better Life, the latter of which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Along with Leigh, this is Bichir’s first time working with Tarantino, though he appeared in Machete Kills, directed by frequent Tarnatino-collaborator Robert Rodriguez.
Tarantino shelved The Hateful Eight after the script was leaked earlier this year, but then later changed his mind and put it back into production. The film is currently slated for a 2015 release and will be shot on 70mm film.
