‘Deadpool 2’ Officially On, Ryan Reynolds And Director Tim Miller Returning

Deadpool quickly obliterated records left and right after it hit theaters back in February, and it was clear that 20th Century Fox would definitely be interested in the prospect of sequel. The film has made $757.6 million worldwide as of this writing, shooting it up to being the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time. It also managed to strike chored with most critics, but especially with the antihero’s avid fanbase. And with all of those successes, the previously troubled career of star Ryan Reynolds is now a thing of the past.

During this year’s CinemaCon, many exciting details of many upcoming blockbusters have been unveiled, but one of the newest announcements was that Deadpool 2 is officially in the works at Fox.  The statement was made by the studio’s co-chairman Stacey Snider, revealing that Ryan Reynolds, director Tim Miller, and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are all returning for the sequel. This is comforting news not only for fans of the first film but also having the original team helm the upcoming project for quality purposes. Often times, particularly within the superhero genre, directors and screenwriters will come and go as the series progresses, so this news gives Deadpool 2 a fighting chance to somehow be even better than its predecessor.

There’s been no announcement for the return of other characters in the first film, such as Brianna Hildebrand (Warhead), Stefean Kapicic (Colossus), T.J. Miller, and Morena Baccarin. Fox is ready to get the sequel going with a planned 2017 release, so we could be be seeing more of the trash-talking warrior sooner than we think.
