Ezra Miller is returning as The Flash in his very own solo film set to begin production in February 2019. Following Miller’s entrance into the DC Extended Universe in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (with a brief appearance), he assumed a proper role in DC’s Justice League in 2017. Miller’s Flash character brought a much needed dose of humor to an otherwise serious film, and his charm stole many scenes from the other metahumans in the film.
The directors of Game Night, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, are teaming up again for The Flash. Using a script written by Joby Harold, Screen Rant reports that the film will co-star Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, and most likely Billy Crudup as Henry Allen since he has already been introduced in the Worlds of DC as this character. Although the aforementioned cast is all we know about the film as yet, Miller’s comedic take on the character will give DC an essential break from the darker side of the comic characters introduced thus far. Hopefully The Flash will give the Marvel Cinematic Universe a run for its money and rival the success of Tom Holland’s similarly-snarky Spider-Man.
As Worlds of DC films settle into a staggered schedule in 2019, it looks as if The Flash will hit theaters in 2020. Warner Bros. currently has Birds of Prey, Black Adam, Suicide Squad 2, Shazam! and The Batman on the docket for either 2019 shoots or releases, and The Flash will be yet another exciting and charismatic superhero flick to look forward to in the next few years.
