Check Out the Pre-Game Super Bowl Trailer for ‘Insurgent’

With the Super Bowl last night, several movies had memorable spots, with the trailer for The Divergent Series: Insurgent – first released even before the big game by MTV- showing a simulation of Tris’s (Shailene Woodley) fears as she faces down against the series’ antagonist, Jeanine (Kate Winslet).

The trailer opens with Tris inside of a fear simulator, which shows that her biggest fear is Jeanine and the fact that fighting against her seems pointless and unwinnable. Tris is also shown as ‘The One’, seemingly the only one who can take down this dystopian society because of her ability to push past her own fear and attack, because it makes her stronger rather than weaker. This short trailer is also very reminiscent of another sci-fi series where only one character has the ability to take down the corrupt society dominated by a virtual reality (The Matrix, anyone?).

Shailene Woodley stars as Tris, alongside her love interest Four, played by Theo James. Kate Winslet plays Jeanine, and a host of other stars will accompany these three, including Ansel Elgort, Naomi Watts, and Octavia Spencer. Readers can also check out Insurgent‘s other trailers here and here.

The Divergent Series: Insurgent will be released on March 20, but advance tickets go on sale on February 25.
