Arnold Schwarzennegger On Board for ‘Maggie’

Arnold Schwarzenneger has been very busy pumping up his film career as of late. As previously discussed, he will be returning to the big screen for Terminator 5 and will also be appearing in the third installment of The Expendables. As if that weren’t enough to keep the Governator occupied, he recently signed on to star in the upcoming zombie flick Maggie. Schwarzenneger will be playing a father whose daughter has been infected with a “walking dead” virus that has spread across the country.

Henry Hobson, who has worked on title design in films such as Snow White and the Huntsman and The Help, will be making his feature-length directorial debut with the film. The Black List script, which sparked a lively spec auction back in March  (eventually won by Timur Bekmambetov, producer of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), was written by John Scott III.  It has been noted that Maggie strays from the typical storylines that deal with the undead by elongating the period of transformation. Instead of the infection changing the victim within minutes of exposure, the turn takes six weeks. Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass, Dark Shadows) was slated to play opposite Schwarzennegger as the daughter, but ultimately had to turn down the role due to scheduling issues. Paddy Considine, soon to be seen in The World’s End, is also in the cast.

Production will start in the fall.
