‘Close To You’ Acquired By Greenwich Entertainment; Elliot Page And Hillary Baack Star

The 2023 Toronto Film Festival entry Close to You has been acquired by Greenwich Entertainment for further distribution. Starring Umbrella Academy lead Elliot Page, the film is set for a summer 2024 release in U.S. theaters.

Close to You follows young man Sam (Page) returning to his small town in Lake Ontario, Canada, for his dad’s birthday after moving away to Toronto. Along the way, he meets up with an old high school friend (played by Sound of Metal star Hillary Baack), who joins him on his journey home. Along the way, Sam must grapple with his long-repressed feelings, hidden love for his friend, and slowly budding self-confidence.

Written and directed by BAFTA winner Dominic Savage, Close to You was developed under the U.K. banner Me + You Productions with Page, Krishnendu Majumdar, and Richard Yee producing. Page and Savage conceived and coauthored the story for this film during its development.

Savage and Page have expressed their excitement for the film and their hard work on display. In an interview with Deadline, Page called working with Savage “an absolute pleasure and privilege.” Savage, in turn, expressed joy over the work put into a “unique and personal film about love, identity, and family.” “I’m looking forward to audiences enjoying what we have achieved in cinemas later this year,” he gushed.
