Hollywood is officially going through one of the most tumultuous times in its history, with sexual assault allegations against a huge variety of big name producers, directors, and actors. Some of these allegations have affected new film releases and changes in announcements for films, but the one of the most interesting and craziest changes to occur is recasting one of the main characters in a film with the film releasing in six weeks.
Christopher Plummer, critically-acclaimed actor behind roles like Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music and Charles Muntz in Up, has officially replaced Kevin Spacey as J. Paul Getty in Ridley Scott’s new film All the Money in the World, according to sources. There are currently no reports in pushing the film’s release date back, even with having to reshoot and re-edit all scenes with Getty. It will be interesting to see if the production can pull off this almost impossible feat, considering that this film was shown off to be a possible Academy Award nominee.
All the Money in the World tells the true story of John Paul Getty III, who is subsequently kidnapped and held for ransom. The story follows the young man’s mother, who calls upon the help of her stepfather, who immediately denies her. It is up to the mother and Getty’s secretary to discover the secret and bring Getty III back home. The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Michelle Williams, and Charlie Plummer. It looks to release on December 22nd.
