Chris Pratt is now confirmed to appear in his first non-team MCU flick, though the Revengers could reunite, with Star-Lord its newest member. The Guardian of the Galaxy and pseudo-Avengers star will appear in the fourth installment of the Thor franchise entitled Thor: Love and Thunder, The Hollywood Reporter revealed in a newsletter.
Little is known about Pratt’s involvement or for that matter any plot details at the moment. The film will connect the past, present, and future of the popular Marvel franchise. Natalie Portman came out for SDCC 2019 wielding Mjollnir, connecting Jane Foster, played by Portman, back into the MCU for the first time since 2013’s Thor: The Dark World. It is clear that Jane will be some form of a ‘thor’-esc hero, similar to Jane’s role in the comics.
Also confirmed at that time were scene stealers Taika Waititi, who is back in the director’s chair, and Tessa Thompson, reprising their roles as the loveable rock Korg and badass warrior Valkyrie. A rumor for a long time that was confirmed earlier this year is Chrisitian Bale’s casting as an intergalactic mystery villain, along with Jonathan Majors cast as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man 3 the future of the MCU is clear: it will be cosmic.
Pratt recently wrapped two films during the pandemic. The third installment of the Jurassic World franchise and the Tomorrow War. He will begin shooting Guardians of the Galaxy 3 shortly.
Now with Pratt onboard Thor: Love and Thunder, similar to the God of Thunder in Endgame, is looking pretty stuffed. However, akin to Thor in the latest installment of the MCU, it will surely add more depth and reality to this insane universe.
Thor: Love and Thunder is currently in pre-production and will start shooting in January 2021 in Australia.
