Chris Evans Reminds Fans He Is No Longer Captain America

Bad news for Chris Evans fans, it seems the actor is not coming back for Captain America 4. Marvel fans have been abuzz this week with the release of the newest Marvel film Thor: Love and Thunder and the announcement of a new Captain America movie.

The fourth installment of the Captain America franchise will be directed by Julius Onah, and this announcement caused an awakening of excitement online, leading to a lot of rumors spreading around. Multiple sites were speculating that Chris Evans, who formerly played Captain America until his character Steve Rogers traveled back in to the 1940s for good in Avengers: Endgame, would be returning to pick up his shield in the new movie.

This speculation came despite how back in 2018 when Endgame was released, Evans made it pretty clear that while portraying Rogers for the better part of a decade was “an honor” he was not planning on coming back to the role.

After the confusion caught the attention of Evans this week, the actor took to twitter to make clear that Anthony Mackie/Sam Wilson is Captain America now, as established in Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
