‘Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers’ Is Getting a Live Action Movie

Fans of classic Disney animated tv shows will be excited to learn that Disney is planning on making a live action movie based on the classic cartoon Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers. The movie will be released straight to the Disney+ streaming service.

The original Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers show was about the adventures of the titular chipmunks brothers forming a deceptive agency with their friends; the adventurer Monterey Jack, the genius inventor mouse Gadget, and Zipper the fly. The group would travel around the world helping other animals and fighting their enemies Fat Cat and Professor Norton Nimnul. The show lasted for three years and originally aired from 1989 t0 1999. The series has been adapted into comics and video games, and the characters made a cameo in the Ducktales reboot show.

While the movie’s voice cast has not been officially announced, Movie Web speculates that the original voice cast from the show will be reprising their roles including voice actor Corey Burton who voiced Dale and Zipper the fly, voice actress Tress MacNeille who voiced Chip and Gadget, and Jim Cumming who was the second voice actor for Monterey Jack.

Akiva Schaffer has been confirmed as the movie’s director. Schaffer has a lot of experience writing and directing, but he is best known for being a member of the comedy music group The Lonely Island. The movie’s script was written by writers Dan Gregor, Doug Mand, and Barry Schwartz.
