On the cusp of the impending release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros. is jumping on Batman fever with the first teaser trailer of The LEGO Batman Movie, a spin-off of the cheeky, Oscar-nominated animated blockbuster The LEGO Movie. Chris McKay (a veteran of the Emmy-winning series Robot Chicken) directed the feature and Seth Grahame-Smith (Dark Shadows) penned the screenplay that puts the Caped Crusader (albeit in LEGO block form) front and center.
Will Arnett (Emmy nominated for his role on the FOX comedy Arrested Development) provides his gravel voice to the title role – he first essayed the part in a supporting turn in The LEGO Movie. An impressive ensemble cast provides support including Ralph Fiennes (as Alfred), Michael Cera (as Robin), Rosario Dawson (as Batgirl), Zach Galifianakis (as The Joker) and Mariah Carey (as Mayor Marion Grange).
In humorous fashion, the teaser begins with an intro by LEGO Batman himself, followed by explosive text of every live-action Batman movie that Warner Bros. has released and a promise from the Caped Crusader himself that the teaser includes “some, but certainly not all of my best hero moments and zingers.” The LEGO Batman Movie opens wide on February 10, 2017.
