“No Decade is Safe”, or so declares the new trailer for Hot Tub Time Machine 2. The sequel to the 2010 time travel hit reunites Rob Corddry (Sex Tape), Craig Robinson (This is the End), and Clark Duke (A Merry Friggin’ Christmas) from the first installment as they put the titular hot tub into use in an effort to prevent an assassination. Devotees of the first film may be disappointed that John Cusack won’t be returning, but there are several other familiar faces joining the cast this go-round. Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation) checks in as Cusack’s character’s nephew, who joins the crew as they attempt to return to the past in order to change the future, but end up in the future – and then in the past, and possibly in the future again. Also joining our time-traveling crew are Jason Jones (TV’s The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) and Gillian Jacobs (TV’s Community). Chevy Chase (National Lampoon’s Vacation franchise) reprises his repairman role from the original film.
Steve Pink returns as director, working again from a script by Josh Heald. Paramount Pictures has scheduled a February 20, 2015 release date.
