Check Out the English Trailer for the Commie-Busting ‘Capitao Falcao’

Capitao Falcao (Captain Falcon) presents itself as the film adaptation of a 60s superhero television show from Portugal, in the same vein as American shows from that era. The biggest difference between Falcao and series like Batman and The Green Hornet (besides the language), is that the titular Captain fought against perceived threats to Portuguese society. So don’t be surprised by lines like, “You evil communist rays convert the weak-minded,” and (in reference to feminists), “There’s nothing more dangerous than a woman who thinks she’s a man.”

Fortunately, there was no such show, as Falcao is a satire of propaganda-driven media. One needs to merely glance at the newest (English subtitled) trailer to realize the tongue is planted firmly in the cheek. So, look out for the Captain (Goncalo Waddington) and his “slanty eyed” sidekick, Partridge Kid (Puto Perdiz) as they try to rescue former Portuguese dictator, Antonio de Oliveira Salazar when the film premiers on April 23rd.
