Channing Tatum is in the final talks to star opposite Sandra Bullock. She is producing and starring in the Paramount Pictures film, a romantic adventure The Lost City of D; sources tell Variety. The film follows a reclusive romance author (Bullock) trapped on a book tour with her cover model (Tatum) until an abduction attempt sweeps them both into a crazy jungle adventure, revealing that life can be so strange and much more romantic than any of her paperback fictions.
Based on an idea by Seth Gordon that Dana Fox penned the script. Fox is best known for writing films such as Couples Retreat, How to Be Single, What Happens in Vegas, Isn’t It Romantic, and the upcoming Disney Plus Cruella. Bullock will produce the film through her company Fortis Films, with Liza Chasin and her 3dot Productions. The film will be directed by Adam and Aaron Nee (The Last Romantic and Band of Robbers).
Tatum just wrapped his directorial debut film Dog that co-directed with partner Reid Carolin through their company Free Association and starred in the film. Tatum will also publish his first children’s book, The One and Only Sparkella, dedicated to his daughter in May 2021.
The studio had initially been eyeing Ryan Reynolds for the role, but nothing was set in stone. Bullock and Reynolds starred in the 2009 romantic comedy The Proposal.
