Channing Tatum-Led ‘The Maxx’ Adaptation Moves Forward

Announced in 2019, Channing Tatum takes up the leading role in The Maxx, a film based on the comics of the same name by Sam Keith. While no update has been made since 2019, Daniel Richtman confirms that Paramount is still moving forward with the film.

Coming from producer Roy Lee, Crystal Moselle has recently attached to the project as both a writer and the director, according to Geek Tyrant

With the comics published in 1993 by Image Comics, this isn’t the first time the story has been on a screen of some form. MTV released a television adaptation in 1995, which lead actor Channing Tatum touched upon in his Instagram post about his upcoming role.

The Maxx follows a homeless man watched over by a social worker who imagines himself as a superhero in an alternate reality. In the alternate world known as “The Outback,” the homeless man pictures himself as The Maxx while the real version of himself grapples with the trauma and struggles of his life.

Some of Roy Lee’s other credits include It and the sequel It: Chapter 2, Doctor Sleep, and several other Stephen King adaptations. He also produced the How To Train Your Dragon trilogy, The Lego Movie, and its sequel, and was an executive producer on Godzilla: King Of The Monsters.
