Changes For New ‘Blade’ Film Reported Again: Kit Harrington’s Black Knight Potentially Not Involved

Blade, one of Marvel’s projects scheduled for 2024, has suffered plenty of changes, as reported starting in 2022. The film has been rewritten and the director Bassam Tariq exited the project in September. In November, a new director took the chair, Yann Demange. The film is set to start filming this May, and updates related to it have arisen again.

It appears that the character Kit Harrington (Game of Thrones, Eternals) was going to play in the film, is not having a big part anymore. Some sites have reported that the character has been completely removed, while others suggest it has a reduced role now. Originally Kit Harrington was reprising his role in Eternals as the Black Knight in Blade as indicated in the post-credits scene from the film. Since Blade’s reboot has gone through some re-writes, the character’s place in the last version is uncertain.

These updates come from a recent episode of The Hot Mic, where Jeff Sneider (Above the Line) made some statements about the Marvel Feature. Sneider stated:

“Someone reached out to say that with Blade, things have gotten a little bit better…Things have shaped up, the script is leaner and meaner and they cut out the fat, but the script I heard about was like 87 pages, like there wasn’t enough and they’d shaved it to the bone.”

“What they’d cut out I heard is that Blade was gonna tie-in with Eternals and Kit Harrington’s Black Knight. Black Knight’s not really involved in the Blade thing anymore. They may be recasting a few parts including maybe the daughter, was there like a 14-year-old girl? They may recast that.”

Blade is a reboot of the 1998’s film based on the Marvel character. The character is a hybrid human-vampire who is a vampire slayer. The new Blade was supposed to be connected to Eternals, with the post-credits scene featuring Harrington’s Black Knight confronted by Ali’s Blade as he looks on at the Ebony Blade.

Blade starts shooting this May, which means we will be able to confirm soon whether Kit Harrington will be involved in the end or not. The film is set to be released on September 6, 2024
