Victoria Alonso, who served as executive producer since the first Avengers movie, and whose time at the company dates back to the first Iron Man, has left the studio. There are no concrete reasons why Alonso decided to leave Marvel.
Alonso has been with the company since the early days of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, building an enviable 17-year operation that saw the studio grow from operating through a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Beverly Hills to being acquired by Disney. The Hollywood Reporter states that the MCU became the highest-grossing franchise in film history during her tenure.
Alonso joined the studio in 2006 as head of visual effects and post-production, and in 2008 helped launch the Marvel Cinematic Universe as co-producer on Iron Man. She also co-produced Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011), and Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). Alonso was promoted to Executive Producer of The Avengers in 2012. This movie is the $1.5 billion breakthrough film that took Marvel to new heights and proved that the concept of a shared cinematic universe works.
Alonso was known to serve as executive producer on subsequent Marvel releases and also worked on the Disney+ TV series. In 2021, he was promoted to President of Physical and Post Production, Visual He Effects, and Animation Production.
She was named one of the Most Influential Hispanic Women in 2019 and 2020 by People en Español magazine and has been included multiple times on THR’s Entertainment Power 100 Women list.
Last year, Alonso produced the Academy-Award-nominated international film Argentina 1985.
