CGI Movie of ‘Clifford The Big Red Dog’ Coming to the Big Screen Next Year

This past weekend, Paramount released the first look at their live-action film Clifford the Big Red Dog. The beloved children’s book by author Norman Bridwell was written in the 1960s, and it had its own show from 2000-2003 as well. Over the years, Clifford has been shown in many books and shows. Just recently, an animated movie was released on Amazon Prime, as well as many educational games.

According to Screen Rant, Paramount earned the rights to making Clifford film  in 2016 and began developing a live-action movie for him. It took many years to get updates on the film, but we finally get a first-look into the film. In the adorable teaser, the camera showcases puppies, and then just like the animated books and shows, Clifford is then shown as a baby Labrador towering over his other puppy friends. The CGI is extremely realistic, as it looks as though someone just painted a labrador puppy red. The film stars Darby Camp as Clifford’s human friend Emily Elizabeth, and Jack Whitehall as her Uncle Casey. Emily brings Clifford back to her New York City apartment, but as Clifford keeps growing, Emily and her dog best friend must go on an adventure through the city.

The film will be directed by Walt Becker (Old Dogs), and is said to arrive in 2021.  It was previously reported that the film is scheduled for November 5, 2021. Clifford the Big Red Dog will be released in just in time for the holidays.

Melissa Cusano: I love to escape reality with reading, writing, movies, and music! If I'm not working I love to go to concerts (pre-covid), play video games, and hang out with my dog Ozzi.
