Amidst the rumors of casting changes for the upcoming Indiana Jones installment, there’s one guy who would like to lay them to rest. Frank Marshall, who has produced every Indiana Jones film so far, says that if they do intend to use the Indiana Jones character for the 5th entry in the franchise, they would continue to have Harrison Ford in that role.
With the Walt Disney Company taking over the rights to the franchise many have speculated that there would be some dramatic changes in casting and story with all of their other reboots and adaptations in the works. Previously reported, Chris Pratt (Jurassic World) was rumored to fill the shoes of the global artifact hunter, but Marshall doesn’t fancy doing such things:
We’re not doing the Bond thing where we’re going to call somebody else Indiana Jones.
It’s not to say that they wouldn’t have another character take the baton altogether. Mutt Williams, Jones’ son in the last movie Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, was played by Shia LaBeouf, who, at the time, many thought may become the face of the franchise. While co-producer Kathleen Kennedy has stated that there are definitely plans to make a fifth installment, the project is just barely in the discussion phase as they haven’t even started working on a script yet.
In the meantime, of course, Ford will soon be seen returning to another of his iconic roles for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens.
