Bryce Dallas Howard Could Possibly Make Feature Length Directorial Debut With New Film

Bryce Dallas Howard has been connected to the adaptation of Matthew Quick’s book Sorta Like A Rock Star, where she is the possible director for the film, according to Variety.

Previously, Howard has worked on a whole host of short films, but if she decides to direct, it will be her feature-length directorial debut. She has directed four shorts, including Orchids, Solemates, The Hug, and When You Find Me, which was placed on the short list at the Academy Awards for Best Short Film.

Howard is known mainly as an actress, with fairly large roles in Jurassic World, the Pete’s Dragon reboot, and The Help. She is also known for being the daughter of Ron Howard, the critically-acclaimed director behind A Beautiful Mind and Apollo 13. Bryce Howard’s short film When You Find Me was a part of her father’s Project Imagin8tion that was created to support new directors.

Because the film currently does not have a distributor and is still in pre-production, Bryce Dallas Howard has not officially confirmed that she will be the director. Ol Parker is the writer behind the first script, which follows a young high school student named Amber Appleton, who lives in a school bus driven by her mom after difficulties at home surface. Author Matthew Quick is also the writer behind Silver Linings Playbook and several other adaptations currently in development.
