Black Mirror Creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones have unveiled more about their mysterious new mockumentary coming to Netflix, Death to 2020. Brooker first revealed the project with a 10 second teaser on twitter, but now we have an almost 50 second trailer that shows us exactly who will star in the new film.
The trailer showed that Samuel L. Jackson, Love Actually’s Hugh Grant, Friends’ Lisa Kudrow, The Big Sick’s Kumail Nanjiani and Stranger Things’ Joe Keery would be starring in the new film. Other names in the trailer include Tracey Ullman, Samson Kayo, SNL alum Leslie Jones, Diane Morgan and How I Met Your Mother’s Cristin Miloti.
“Charlie Brooker has written a mockumentary about 2020,” said Grant recently in an interview with Vulture. “It’s for Netflix, and I am a historian who’s being interviewed about the year. I’m pretty repellent, actually! And you’ll like my wig.”
The new mockumentary will apparently blend fictional narration with real-life archival footage taken from 2020. It’s unclear when we’ll see Death to 2020 release to the streamer. The teaser states “Coming Soon… Too soon?” which could mean that we’ll see the film before the year ends. Either way, Black Mirror fans should be excited to see something new from the creators of the iconic series.
