Paramount films is bringing back a classic in ‘Clifford the Big Red Dog,’ which will start filming this July in New York, according to Hollywood Reporter. The film will be directed by Walt Becke and produced by Jordan Kerner and Lole Lucchese. Clifford‘s story will be written by the team of Jay Scherick, David Ronn, Annie Mumolo, and Stan Chervin, taking inspiration from the Norman Bridwell novel ‘Clifford’ and PBS cartoon adaptation.
Clifford’s cast will include Kenan Thompson, David Alan Grier and Rosie Perez, who respectfully completed a 16th season of SNL, finished The Cool Kids, and will star in the upcoming film The Dead Don’t Die. Additional big name stars include ‘Big Little Lies’ Darby Camp, Jack Whitehall, John Cleese, and ‘Hunger Games’ actress Lynn Cohen. It’s plot, much like the books, will follow a girl named Emily Elizabeth who discovers a red puppy named Clifford that eventually grows to massive proportions.
‘Clifford the Big Red Dog’ remains a classic kids franchise so here’s hoping that, with all these great stars on board, it’s tastefully adapted into a live action film. The world will be looking forward to seeing how Clifford develops, as well as what the cast and Paramount’s crew manage to bring to the adaptation.
